We the Warmers

This is going to be a short post - well more of a personal viewpoint really.

The subject of global warming is everywhere. And evidence is beginning to stack up that the world is getting hotter fast. The accepted reason is that mankind's burning of fossil fuels and CFC use are the main culprits. Not to me.

My arguement is simple. The temperature of Earth is rising. That's because mankind as a race are going about their daily lives at an increasingly faster pace. We're manic, in a rush, and expending our own energy into the atmosphere and heating it up. Don't believe me? How about this? When we are cold we are told to huddle together to share and produce more warmth. And that's when sitting still. What power can 6 billion human dynamos create as they hurtle about the globe everyday in a human race? Enough power to boil the planet!

And that's what we are doing!

Work-out how to Work-in

The last 25 years have seen a veritable boom in the fitness industry. Aerobics has become Pilates has become body pump. Eating well now means eating organic or macro-biotic and fitness plans are as integral a part of diaries as work and social appointments. We work-out so much.
Ah, but do we? We work out physically because we don't work out emotionally or internally. We exercise our bodies without exercising our ability to understand ourselves.

Now I'm not talking counselling or psychiatry here but merely keeping our emotional insides as healthy as our skeletal frame or internal organs. A healthy system is a complete system so take time from now on to work-in as much as work-out. Have a fresh look at your emotions, values, opinions and viewpoints and, if needs be, bring them up to scratch. They are muscles for spirit so don't forget them and give them a quick Spring clean now and again. To be fit include what you see as fit to feel, sense and believe. The feel good factor is found here more than anywhere else.

That said here's someone who made me feel good and still does.......

The Rules of Life 2

Time for some more rules of life. Life is often a bumpy ride but sometimes a quiet amble through time. This journey brings signposts, routes and happenings that shape our existence. This shape becomes like a map of where we've been that we can trace. It tells us which way it's best to turn what places not to bother to go and points the direction to head for. It's a sat nav for spirit. Here's a few more I've come across as I make my way through John land. Feel free to add some of your own!!

1) You can't make people love you, you can only make yourself loveable

2) How you treat a child ( kind or not ) will come back to you 1o times over from them

3) Wisdom isn't down to age, it's down the ability to learn from what comes your way

4) If love were a currency many people would save more than they spend

5) What you see when you look in the mirror governs what you see in life

6) There is only today; try to live, love and enjoy it as no other day exists

I tend not to think of them as rules to be honest, more like observations. After all life is one big observation.
You see what you want, you feel what you feel as a result. What do you see?

Omens, Portents and Passings

In 1994 the comet Shoemaker-Levy smashed into Jupiter. From that day my life felt like a comet had smashed into it leaving as big a scar. Pain, heartache, loss, trauma, old emotions, bad health, financial freefall and death arrived with a bang and the last 15 years has been a battle to deal with, put to bed and settle these testing issues and the events that went with them. On July 2oth 2009 another comet smashed into Jupiter - now I read that as an omen or portent of some other universal change. And that got me to thinking...what omens or messages do we subtly receive that we miss?

Here is a couple to think over but also to spark curiosity in spotting your own. And once you have try seeing the real meaning. It's not all bad because (obviously) I'm still here, happier than ever, clear of the past and striding towards a (new) future. So you may have been spoken to by -
  • Clouds - some shapes have personal meanings and memory joggers
  • Songs - at special times old songs have a way of finding us and take us to something we need to look at
  • People - people can come back into our life echoing starting again or to deal with and let go of an era
  • Places - suddenly you find yourself going over old territory or holiday places. Why?
  • Events - another comet, same planet. Year it last happened my life changed. Now???? Look out for events 'coming back' for a reason like world situations, revivals, re-unions or fads returning

The Universe communicates to us in non-human ways. It can't call us up, send a text or e-mail or drop by itself with the message it wants us to notice so it does it in a more subtler fashion. Be ready, yours could be on its way anytime now with the hint of a lifetime.

Nothing Doing

I treated myself to a weekend break by the coast the other day. A simple sit down and watch the ocean kind of few days. I shut up whilst the waves spoke as they gently lapped the sloping shore. My mind stilled whilst my spirit soared through the array of pleasantry in front of me. Beautiful blue blended with soft shaded sand and a benevolent breeze that felt like paradise accompanied the proud sun that adorned the empty sky. It sounds like I discovered much but I hardly moved an inch. That is the power of doing nothing sometimes. We are so focused on making things happen that we fail so often to let them happen. So try achieving everything through nothing doing or not doing. Open your senses and let them be delighted.

The Rules of Life 1

I've been on Earth enough years now to have collected some understanding of what rules life conjures up. Some make everything more clearer, some reduce the stress or pressure, some come from experience ( pain and pleasure ) but all talk at a deeper level. And you probably have your own personal rules listed somewhere even if that's inside where it counts. So, every now and again I'm going to share some simple rules that have been far reaching in their meaning. To keep it simple and get the ball rolling this video contains wonderful sentiment and wisdom along the same lines.

Let me know you own favourites or special rules you've learnt to live by. Keep smiling one and all!

Mankind or Manhate??

We are all one human race. One species living and growing on the planet called Earth. Together we have evolved into people of great things. We have conquered the forests, the seas and skies and have now begun to reach out into space. We are mankind!

Yet how come we seem to loathe, despise, mistrust, kill, destroy and maim each other? We aren't mankind...we have become manhate!!

It's not that difficult to care about each other. Witness a natural disaster and see the human spirit combined into one loving, connected, positive force. And then witness it disappear again just as quickly as we divide and divide into a multitude of beliefs, standpoints, races, opinions and differences. The disasters, almost a hint from above at what we can achieve when we pull and care together, become a distant memory as the disasters within us take over.

You and I we're all the same. We want to love and be loved. We want peace and happiness. We want to be friends with everyone. We want a world full of our kind not our hate!! Imagine that!

A Good Bad Day

What do you class as a bad day? Your boss shouted at you? Lost a client maybe? Everyone seemed to have a short fuse and took it out on you? Well in some jobs that can mean the difference between life and death in every moment - See This!!

Certain people have a bad day every day. A life or death day every day. A day where saving a life or not losing their own is on the line all the time. Where a good day is when they make it to the end of it unscathed mentally, emotionally or physically. We have a hard day and we can soak in the bath, have a glass of wine, watch some favourite films, cuddle up with a partner or go out for a nice meal. Not so others.

From nurses and doctors in hospitals to those out there on the high seas or deep below ground. From emergency services on permanent call to soldiers in far off lands fighting for freedom and, please God, to make it home. Home that we take for granted.

Be glad the bad days as they make the good ones all the sweeter. But remember the many who celebrate a good bad day. A bad day like any other but good because they are have survived to do it all over again tomorrow!!

Too Quick!

Human activity is breathtaking. Breathtakingly quick. Too quick. We truly are a race; hurtling at breakneck speed from place to place our frazzelled minds barely ( and often rarely ) keeping up. This behaviour means we are too quick for our own good. We've got no time. No time to take our time. We're always too quick -
  • Too quick to jump to conclusions

  • Too quick to point the finger and pass the buck

  • Too quick to decide rather than wait and see

  • Too quick to have today and pay tomorrow

  • Too quick to condemn, judge or moralise

There's nothing to win in being the fastest. Burn-out maybe, worn out definitely. So wise up and slow down. Trouble is we are slow in some ways, too slow -

  • Too slow to lend a hand or support

  • Too slow at being something rather than doing nothing and re-charging

  • Too slow at hanging on in there for the long haul where few show up

  • Too slow at saying no

  • Too slow to know that chilling out first means chilling in(side)

It's one competitive field in the human race. Millions are joining in all the time. It could be the best time ever to drop out. Let it all go. Be a sustainable energy person. Save it. For another day, for yourself, your world and above all a longer life.

New Endangered Species

Maybe I'm getting old but I've noticed recently that noble, traditional ways are being slowly eroded away. Modern existence is helter skelter living and technology is moving just as quick to stay a pace with it. Current speak is, 'facebook this' or 'twitter that' or 'mp3 the other' as everyone is an internet marketer, online entrepeneur or SEO specialist. Fair enough you have to keep up with the times but what's being lost in the process? Let me say, a lot!!

Crucial but simple traits in society have become the new endangered species. Characteristics like respect, good manners and neighbourhoodness are fading away. Great swathes of the Earth have now seen responsibility, honesty and patience lost in record numbers. Red alerts are out for togetherness, community and decency. We are all asked to do what we can to preserve them. But we've got human climate change. Mankind is getting hotter in mood, darker in mind and more colder in its hearts all the time. We're in for a storm soon if we're not careful!!

Please don't let the old fangled stuff die. Don't condemn them to history books or memories. Look for them everyday and point them out. Tell others, spread the word ( especially on the street ). Record where you've witnessed them. Be a supporter and give daily. Keep it simple, keep it real, above all keep it going. The little things are always the big things. Life is like a flower in our hands. Don't let it die the last of its kind.

Three Little Words

What do you think are the three most powerful words in life when used together? Yes, of course, "I Love You" easily comes to mind but does everyone have access to sharing and saying them?

The Astrologer, Jonathan Cainer, wisely cited that, "I Don't Know" holds the crown in that it allows all possibilities to manifest in time rather than making instant, often inaccurate decisions.

To me, however, the real challenge is to define life in three little words. To create a simple, but powerful definition of what life is about in a short phrase. In this blog that is my challenge to you! Find for yourself three little words that spell out one big meaning. One which makes you jump for joy on the inside;one that explains things!
Let me get you started with some ideas - Make Things Happen Unlocking My Potential An Everyday Adventure

I've focused on the positive because, well, that's me. What is you? Be clear and sure. Your 3 words will have an energy to them so make sure they match how you feel about life. Then live those words!! Follow their message every day. Bring them to life, in your life.

Result: Three little words, one big lifetime.

Google Yourself

Have you ever Googled your own name? Checked out to see how many of you are out there and what the others do? You haven't? Why not?

Names have a certain feel, energy or resonance to them. Have you ever met someone and then thought, "Mmmm, they don't look like a Tim" or "Hollie, I love that name. All gorgeous girls seem to be called Hollie". Be honest, certain names create certain feelings or perceptions? There is a lot said in a name. And it's amazingly spooky and accurate how people of the same name tend to lean towards certain interests, career and job spheres, minds sets, outlooks and general areas of interest.

So, open up your Outlook and take a look! Google your name and see what all the other xxx 's are up to, working as, winning, planning, participating in, following and plain living life as. You will get a truly fascinating handle on your own existence. Many might be in music and you love music but never had the confidence to go for it. Clue there? Or they all may be scientists or doctors or even unusual roles that uncover some of your secret abilities. They might be go-getters, life givers, life savers, risk takers or difference makers. And that night speak something to deep down inside of you.

You are who you are; all of you worldwide. There is no coincidence that you have been given the same name. Someone, somewhere was trying to tell you something. A bit of Google might find that out!!

So your name says a lot about you. Your energy, your drive, your personality, characateristics etc that people respond to in varying ways. It also may say what you could become, are on the way to becoming or failing to notice. What's in a name? Pretty much everything!

The Human Race

We truly are a human race. Take a look at how fast life is on Earth as everyone hurtles around at breakneck speed with our minds racing and our bodies pushed to their limit. More people breakdown every day than cars do!!!

Wise up and slow down. It's no coincidence that the species in the animal kingdom that live the slowest also live the longest. Think of any? Turtle! Typically lives over a hundred years. Elephant! Same there. They know when to go and when to slow. We just press accelerate until we obliterate. Take it easy because if you are a rusher and prone to be impatient you'll more than likely soon be an in-patient. Kapisch?

Learn to recharge your batteries more often, not just for two weeks on a beach once a year. Take time to take your time. Exist easy and in the words of Spock, "Live long and prosper". Life is a journey and you've got a long way to go. Best sit back and enjoy the view. That way in the human race there will be one more winner. You!

Soul Searching 10 - No.2 and No.1

The soul searching comes to an end with the 2 top learnings from life. All ten protect the spirit and keep it intact through all the days and tests of life.

No.1 - Be Yourself: The greatest truth comes in the simplest form. Many a person has lived their life someone elses way. They have followed someone else's creed or teaching. Earned their living doing what they are not instead of being what they are. Acted, thought, felt and spoke in every way but their own. Life isn't as difficult when you live it your way. And as you do so enjoy it, welcome it, embrace it, expand it and share it. Give love and give of yourself. Try not to do things to be liked but because you like things. Sing when you feel not when people would listen. Speak your own truths not grown truths. Walk your path rather than follow well trodden ones. Don't be drawn to the light, be the light in the first place!! Be yourself. That's why you are here, that's why you were born. The world needs you - the real you!

No.2 - Honour your Spirit: You are spirit, first and foremost. It lives in you and powers your physical world. A child has spirit when they are at play. A team competes with spirit and we humans do things "in the right spirit". From the spirit in a community to the spirit of our times this force remains an ever present. Yet it can diminish like a fading fire if you fail to recognise it. Your spirit is real. Work out where it shows itself in you and your life and promise to feed and protect it. Maybe your spirit speaks when you do ( like Martin Luther King ). Perhaps it's in your love for others and your work with them ( like Mother Theresa ). Or it might be truly alive in how you inspire and lead ( like Barack Obama ). Whether your spirit is present in being a parent or through your singing or sport or love of animals and nature ensure it stays with you by honouring its existence. When it comes alive, you do. When spirit fails we all do. Don't be dispirited, lift them and live them.

The Soul Searching 10 - No.4 and No.3

No.4 - Employ Gut Instinct: Choices, choices. Every single day comes a myriad of choices. From the simple like what clothes to wear to the complex like prioritising time to the significant like should you quit your job to follow a long held dream? Every question needs an answer sooner or later. The choices will keep coming so how can you find a way to get those answers more accurate in your favour? Have guts!!
How many times have you acted on a hunch and found it worked out? How often did you have a feeling you should do something or call someone and you were spot on? You had employed gut instinct. It's our connection, not to the unknown, but the all knowing. It bypasses logic, opens up inspiration and takes us beyond our problem to the way forwards. I tried it for a week once. Amazing is all I can say. I made new connections to people and success that the previous 10 years failed to bring me. It takes trust to forego the lack of proof in what your gut says to you but, hey, give it a try to day. You have nothing to lose if you are stuck. Go one, have guts!

No.3 - Realise Your Power: Who has the power in the world? Certain countries like the USA? Leaders like Gordon Brown? Star makers like Simon Cowell? Those with money like Bill Gates? True, all probably true in someway but EVERYONE has power. Better to realise yours.

We all influence others aware or not. Certain standards, phrases you use, hobbies or jobs you have are as a result of your parents subliminal effect on you. Their characteristics and values have rubbed off on you and have been integrated into who you are. Add to that other family members, friends you look up to, people you love and yes, those powerful celebrities, plus your own standpoint and beliefs and the result of this mix is you. Yet you effect others the very same way. How you live, what you represent, how hard you try or kind you are or some other element of your personality touches people out there without you knowing. Every day this happens without fail. You ARE powerful. You DO make a difference. You WILL not believe me but one day someone will tell you that it was something you never knew you did, said, acted or believed changed their life in a way they could never have dreamt. You have power; always have, always will. Use it well friends.

The Soul Searching 10 - No.6 and No.5

The 10 ways to improve life on earth reaches the mid-point. The Soul Searching continues.

No.6 - YOU THE RADIO STATION: People move in orbits. Every person in and around your life is there because they have tuned into you. That is why some are classed as being on your 'wavelength' whilst others don't seem to communicate your way. You are a transmitter, a preverbial radio station with your own output. People pick up this and the attraction or vibe begins and they become part of your life in some way. The more life positive, people friendly the energy you transmit, the greater the 'listeners'. After all would you listen to a radio station that beamed out morose songs day in day out?

What stations you listen to are the ones that feel good to you. Ones you like, prefer, enjoy. Broadcasting what inspires you, helps you, makes life better and more enjoyable. You have naturally tuned into what they send out. It resonates with you. But you do the same. You send out messages of who and what you are in every moment that others worldwide recieve. You transmit on your own personal frequency and others who match that pick it up. If you've got the wrong people or scenarios in your world then time to play something new. Think about your output if you want the right input. Be a player; of the good stuff and watch the audience grow!

No.5 - HAVE VALUES: Why do you do what you do? Why does anyone? You may not know it but underneath it all are your values. Most of the world walks about with inner blindness. They never know what makes them seemingly decide what's right or wrong. Why take one job over another? Why one type of person becomes a friend over another? Why do they feel uncomfortable at times for no reason and relaxed at others? Values. Simply values.
Take time to work out what values you live by. Is is love? Or maybe fairness? Or perhaps belief in others or honesty? Whatever they are get to know yours. Find 5 values you live your life by and make friends with them. They subtly power all your decision making. They have done in the past and will do in the future. Your values are you!

23 April 2009

The Soul Searching 10 - No.8 and No.7

No.8 - YOU CAN'T FAIL: Often we are governed to think that life is only about failure or success. There is nothing in between. You either make it or you don't. Poppycock!! Life is a series of experiences, some good, some not so. We try things that might not fully work whilst others pay off. That's how we learn. That's how every invention we rely has made in to the light of day. That's how we made it through school. That's how every high acheiver eventually made it to the top. You can't fail in your life. Only experience, understand and grow. Our only failing is that we don't recognise this.

No.7 - A POSITIVE OUTLOOK: What do you see out the windows of your mind? When you view life on Earth and your own life is it pretty good or pretty bad? Do you recognise what you've got or what's missing? Is the world an awful place or a true wonder? What you look for you find. If that's troubles then troubles will appear. But if you look for good stuff it won't be long before it shows itself. Medical research has proved that people with a more positive outlook have less incidence of ill health and disease and live up to 10 years longer. They also tend to have more money, a greater number of friends and varied social life, seem luckier and are popular and loved. If that's not you, well best do some window cleaning soon!!

The Soul Searching 10 - No.10 and No.9

So how do you get through life? Where's the rule book? Is there a guide somewhere? Well I'm no expert merely an experiencer of life, however after all I've been through I thought I might list the 10 life savers I have discovered through the years of Soul Searching on physical Earth. They've got me through, lifted me up, kept me going, found me strength, boosted the spirit and been learnt over many a year of pain and pleasure, trial and victory, with or without love. Like many a life. So here, two at a time, are the Soul Searching 10.

No.10 - EXPECT EVERYTHING: Life holds many an experience. Your mind, over time, will try to fathom out the meaning of this patchwork of events and happenings so that it can be ready for what may be coming next. This is pointless. Live and learn but expect everything and anything. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans". EVERYTHING is possible all the time!

No.9 - THERE IS ONLY NOW: It is tempting to live anywhere but now. Memories of better times can fill your mind during tougher phases. Or it's dreams of happiness to come and what it will be like that keeps you on the straight and narrow. It's either the past and what was or the future and what it may be. What about today? This moment you are living? Welcome the future, respect the past but live in neither. Learn from what has happened behind you and consider what your life may amount to ahead but do so always with your feet planted in today. Life is made up of only so many 'todays'. For all of us one day there will be no tomorrow. So live for today in the most way you can.

1 April 2009

There's Only Today...

"Yesterday is a history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift, that is why it's called the present" says the famous quote. Yesterday equals memories, the future equals hopes and wishes even fear for some. Today, only today the two roads meet.

"Last month, after a brave fight, my mum passed away. It left me with today. Memories of the past forever there, but the person gone from times to come. Today was all I had left.

"But you see we can cry for lost people or old love or friendship, wait eagerly for a longed for event or scare ourselves silly about life's next turn or corner but, in truth, there is only today. This moment, this now.

From the moment we're born we're dying. That clock above us is ticking. One day it will be our time. Till then, today, live well. Today love others and yourself. Today embrace life and people in equal measure. Today smile and enjoy. Today appreciate the world.

Today have fun, think happy, act happier. Today live your life. Always, always, there's only today!

We the Sunflowers

"Sunflowers - wherever the light is, they find it" or so the quote goes from the film The Calendar Girls. The film was about raising money by doing a nude calendar after one lady's husband died from leukaemia and the quote was from a speech he wrote to be read at his funeral. He didn't want people to be sad but keep looking for the positive like sunflowers as they follow the sun.

My Mum had been in hospital and unwell for most of the last year. Yesterday she came out and is looking to find ways to get better. How brave.
She is looking at sunrise not sunset. We have irritations like money or work or an annoying neighbour or problems with the car and we let it take over us. We become frustrated or angry. But what about the sunflower?

When the rain flows or the clouds cover the sky it doesn't give in less an opportunity is missed. It simply waits until the sun comes out once more. While it waits it follows the light as that's the best clue to where the sun is hiding.
Advice from nature methinks. In today's world too many humans wilt, droop or die facing the wind or living in the dark. When times are tough or uncertain we must move towards the light. Towards the possible, plausible or positive because that's where OUR sun lies. We have to be sunflowers.

Favourite Jumper

Do you remember your favourite old toy? A moth eaten teddy bear or stuffed dolly perhaps? One you took with you everywhere and one as familiar as apple pie or Mum and Dad and loved just as much? I think all our childhoods are littered with such comfort characters that soon get consigned to memory as we grew older. Well......not strictly true because we simply replace them with adult versions.

Image: FreeDigitalPhotos.net

The weather today got increasingly cloudy and progressively more chilly. Right, off with the work garb and on with the warm, cosy clobber. And cosiest and warmest of all my old favourite jumper! Brown, woollen, snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug warm. Aaaaaaghhhhh. Horror or horrors. A huge hole in the collar beyond mending. How did that happen? The disappointment fires through your heart. It's like an old friend doesn't want to meet any more or an old love is getting married.

Then the shock wears off. Just like when Action Man lost his arm in a dog versus toy battle one Sunday when 007 tried to scale dog mountain and annoyed the sleeping hound who ambushed him leaving him shaken and stirred. You bounce back because you still love the darn thing. Warts and all, parts and no parts, marks and stains. Love is deeper than any flaws. As I write I'm wearing old faithful and somehow we seem closer than ever. I don't see the hole, I feel the warmth and familiarity that time has woven together. It's less sentimental and more sentiment. And maybe that goes for humans too. It's not what we look like it's what we've been through. Together, always together. The flaws are where love has chiselled into our hearts.

Sunshine Out, Sunshine In

The sunshine came out today. Peaking from behind a cloud calling sheepishly, "Cooeey, do you remember me? Sorry not been around for a while but I'm back in town!". It was like having an old, dear friend drop by for a chin-wag. You don't know how much you have missed them until they show up. So sunshine come on in because when the sun comes out the sunshine lights up my insides.

Life, with its full intracacies, can be a less than smiley place but the one thing we all instantly feel better for seeing is the sunshine. It's like a smile from nature that, in turn, puts one on our faces and illuminates our emotions. For a while much seems rosy like when hearing a catchy summer song. So I'm sitting just staring out the window at that golden globe for 5 minutes accompanied by the birdband in the background also elated to see our friend return. Boy it feels good letting the sunshine in. Just for a minute all's well. Sometimes it can just be that simple.

The Littlest Happiness

I love to read. Not just books but articles and blogs. One of my favourites is Gretchen Rubin's, 'The Happiness Project', where she studies all things on positive human development. I love the name because it suggests to me that happiness is something to aim for rather than look for in your life. A project or plan not a point of focus. Very intelligent Gretchen.

I suppose I used to think happiness was a good job, good finances, good family, good health and good people around you. Not wrong but then again they too are almost final goals. I mean you can't obtain them overnight can you? Love takes time and trust, a good job has to be worked for and good health requires getting fit and a sensible eating plan. So where is happiness in the meantime?

What is the littlest form of happiness that appears in my life every day? What is there while all the big stuff is under construction? Well I'm thinking small is big to be honest, and why not? That favourite meal once a week or a choccie biscuit to dunk in my tea. The crossword in the morning paper. A hot shower. A text from a best friend. A smile from the kids. No hold ups on the way to work. No hold ups on the way home from work. Warm feet. A warm bed. A cold drink. You see what I mean?

Happiness can start from so many tiny places. We know the big end prizes that happiness represents so why not recognise the little happinesses and gradually bring the ends together? That way happiness is always around. Now.......where did I put that muffin??

Coffee and Optimism

Coffee is better when you are drinking it with someone. I met my friend Andy. He famously posted a message that read, "Andy says, "Optimism"". Great that! Something really meaningful in just one or two words. That's hard to do. So the perfect person for some froth with. And the perfect person to help get rid of that other froth...life's inner bubbles and troubles.

So there we were chin wagging for our life about work, blogging, podcasting, inspiration networking by just using friends and just at that point it hit me. I took a look around. A coffee shop full of other frotheteers. Friends with friends, old friends, best friends, work friends, business buddies, mothers and daughters, sons and lovers, the world and his wife. Go back to Ancient Greece or the pillars of Rome and there, in the town square among the marble, people sat and discussed the wisdoms. Those set down, those they believed and those that would make a better world for themselves and everyone else. They gossiped and chatted, worried at the state of things and put the world to rights.

And so it goes on today. Over coffee. So coffee is good. It brings us together. Friends from all sides of the tracks but friends nonetheless. It connects us as much as a blog or social website. We meet, we talk, we share our thoughts and it makes us feel better. I must do this more often. Yea, coffee and optimism. They go well together!

A Life Less Serious

Day one

It's snowy and icy. No matter. I crunch up to the shop for the morning paper. White meets white . "Snow will become a thing of the past" the experts had cried. Not this winter! We've had it some 4 or 5 times now. An old friend has come back into my life. I'm catapulted back to childhood and the magic of snowfall. Funny, you always thought it snowed every winter and always on Christmas day. That was the magic of then. A magic I've let slip from my life I'm sad to admit.

Weather is just weather but some weather is great weather. I pick up a snowball and throw it at no-one in particular. "It's good to be back" I felt, "where have you been?". And like most adults I don't know. In a serious place where fun became fret.

Life has been too serious. I know you eventually get buried in a grave but that's the only time it should be so serious. Not today, not tomorrow from now on. I smile It's going to be a whole heap of fun. I skid and fall on my backside. Too right and I laugh. These little things are going to march right on back. Yeh, plain, silly good times are back on my agenda. Big up for life John.

Time for Inspiration

Are you looking for some inspiration??
Somewhere positive from the doom and gloom in the world?

Then come to The Inspiration Club!
THE West Midlands finest venue for all things positive!

The club was formed by myself in 2008 and became an instant success!
It featured on BBC CWR's Annie Oathen show and I was asked to film for the BBC prime time progamme The One Show on helping people be more inspired. It also featured as lead story for Enterprise Nation, a nationwide business portal site.

Word was getting out!

Every third Monday of the month the club opens it doors to everyone for a night of upbeat living. Utilising the top teachings from the world's best self-help and human development authors and motivators like Jack Canfield, Paul McKenna, Susan Jeffers, Louise Hay and more, each session is a fabulous insight into tips, secrets and proven advice on how to make your life happier and what you want it to be.

Mixed in with this are some top guest speakers on all manner of subjects from powerful thinking to great relationships, happiness to how to get and keep money! Yes that's right! We cover it all!!

And better still every club includes interactivity so you get to learn, share, meet, and experience a wonderful night with people just like yourself. Club members love mixing in and they say it makes them feel part of something.
So I make sure they get plenty of it!

The club meets from 7 - 9pm at The Vibe Cafe, The Village Hotel,Dolomite Avenue,Coventry. West Midlands
A map is here to make it easy for you to find :

The club is not based on a membership. I believe all people should be able to access the best life has to offer and come when they want. As such a small entrance fee of £7.00 is charged every time you attend.
People like it that way.

Now where else could get regular
inspiration for such a cost? Only here!

It is time to spread the word of inspiration
and expand it even more.
We have lots of people who come but it's time for more.
The bigger the club the better the enjoyment.

You can see more details at http://www.spiritslifted.co.uk where you can also see a list of the speakers and subjects being covered in the months to come.

So....do you need some inspiration?

Then come to The Inspiration Club.
